Buona fortuna!
Edit: Se andate qui l’intervista è online!

English Version:
Where do we start? He’s Italian, alias for Emanuele Lucariello, producer since 2004, flag carrier of the unique Italian uplifting trance sound around the world. He’s comin’ to Milan on the 9th of March for a 6h dj set celebrating the release of his first and new album First Light, released on Feb. 11th and I managed to interview him!
But first things first, let’s see how the album was born, after 9 long years of career.
Since the beginning of the TranceGate association, he was often booked to play in those little club in the hinterland of Milan, establishing a strong connection with Gianluca Ferrandu, the founder, and the faithful crowd that attended every event.
His debut was the remix of Evangelist – Angelica, in collaboration with Astuni. Together they also scored the remix for DeepVoices – A New Beginning that ended up in the A State of Trance 2005 mix compilation, and since then he passed the 100th release mark. As you’ll hear in the interview, the album wasn’t a 100% his idea, it was more of a request by his label and even if the time granted was quite short, he pulled it off.
He also has 2 radio shows: Top Twenty Tunes and Extrema. The former is broadcasted since 2004 and has almost reached 450 episodes, while the latter passed the 300th mark on the 30th of January. Here you’ll be able to find everything about him!
Let’s not forget that he also became renowned worldwide, playing big festivals like Tomorrowland, Quest 4 Trance, Luminosity and the Entrance Festival that asked him and Paul Miller to collaborate to make the official anthem. He’s now resident dj at The Energy Box in London since October and throughout the whole clubbing season.
Unfortunately the interview is in Italian but if you don’t mind, just after the broadcast of the episode, I’ll upload it to Mixcloud and I’ll put in the description the translation. During the show you’ll also hear a selection of 10 of his best works, including 2 tracks taken from the new album and Manuel will ask a question(don’t worry I’ll translate this too). Answering it correctly will give you the chance of winning a free entry to the party! More details during the air of the show! The winner will be announced on next week’s episode!
Curiosities:
He’s a big fan of gaming, especially of Call of Duty, which he plays on Xbox.
He loves keeping in touch with fans, both on social networks and at gigs.
Interview:
Q:So Manuel, tell us, how did the album come together and how did it come to life. Was it an idea of yours?
A:Well, it wasn’t an idea of mine., it was more a request by my label that after many years of releases and remixes asked me if I was ready to make an album. At the beginning I was quite stunned ’cause, you know, it’s not an easy task and the deadline was really tight. I had only 13 months to work on it. Some people usually take 2-3 even 4 years. However in the end i worked on it hard, well and happy, knowing that i’d have carte blanche on the whole project. Yea i’d say that i’m quite happy with the final product.
Q:You aswell host 2 radio shows, Top Twenty Tunes, which is near the 450th episode and Extrema, which celebrated its 6th birthday on the 30th of January. Tell us more about them!
A:Yea, on the 30th we celebrated the 300th episode of Extrema, which airs every Wednesday on ah.fm, so it’s quite a long journey and a nice experience because it allows me to interact with listeners through out ah.fm’s forum, facebook, twitter. I really love social contact and knowing what the feedbacks and reactions are. You’ll surely know as well for this show of yours.
Q:And we shall not forget that you were also booked for big events like Tomorrowland, Quest 4 Trance, Luminosity and such! What’s your best experience?
A:Yea, actually i still consider myself quite underground as an artist. I’m not really known like Armin, but i like it cause i’m able to stay true to myself. I’m not solding out quite easily to earn more or to become famous. I’m not looking for those things, i love trance, i love uplifting and i’m not interested to reach those who like house to be more famous. Music is passion and a love to me.. So anyway yes, i’ve played in many big events like you said, though you won’t see me anymore at Quest 4 Trance because i’ve had some private issues with the promoters. I’ve also played in Mexico at the Eurofest, Godskitchen, Gatecrasher. So yea, my cv is made by those nice parties! What was my favourite? Every interviewer who asks me this gets the same answer: Eurofest in Mexico, becaue not knowing the scene there i didn’t expect 10’000 people united to Dance 2 Trance(quote needed), an enourmous event that marked me.
Q:SO, on the 9th of March you’re finally back to Milan, so celebrate your album release. Do you have already something planned?
A:Yea, finaly i’m back! I’ll make a special 6h set, bloody hell it’s long!, and i’ll play every genre of trance: classic, new things, i won’t start at 140 because i’m not a juggernault. It’ll be a musical trip on trance music. I never plan my tracklists forehand. I prefer to see the people, the feeling.. Surely i’ll play tracks from my album. So: The first listener who aces the track which i’m quite excited about from my album, wns a free entry to the party. Send your answers to contestems@gmail.com and let’s see if we have a winner!
Q:Your fans already know it: you’re a massive fan of the Call of Duty Series.
A:Fan is quite reductive as far as Call of Duty goes. I’m quite obsessed, it’s like a sport i have to play every day.
Q: Are there any other games you enjoy?
A:Yes of course, i really like many other series like Assasin Creed, Final Fantasy, Gears of War, God of War and such. I just finished Far Cry 3, which is really cool. Right now i’m playing on the Xbox Live but i’ve also got a PS3 which is in a corner covered in dust..
Q: And finally, how’s the Energy Box residency going? Do you enjoy the London scene?
A:I’m realy loving London’s scene. I’m having so much fun at The Energy Box, i’m resident since October and will be throughout the season and with a 99% chance i’ll be next year too. We’re growing constantly and working hard. We’re passionate and in April we’ll open a second stage, hosted by Extrema, so it’s quite an accomplishment but i won’t be in full control of what will happen, who will play in the second room but i’ve got the right to speak my mind so i hope to carry on this project as best as i can, even though because i’ll play 1.5h to 2h in the mainstage and then 2h in the second room, just after first room set. I really recomment everyone to try and come because i’m loving and i’m sure you will too!
